Economic Development Unit
Council's Economic Development Unit provides a first point of contact between council and business, works with businesses, government agencies and local and regional organisations to facilitate business and economic development. The team is accessible to businesses - large and small, old and new - and provides information, data and referral services and promotes the Great Lakes assets to attract new investment.

If you are considering relocating your business to the Great Lakes area, or are thinking about buying or expanding an existing business, the Economic Development Unit should be your first point of contact.

Deb Tuckerman, Council's Economic Development Manager, can advise you on availability of land or buildings for your new business, advise you on government assistance, brief you on current and future economic trends in the area and put you in touch with business networks and organisations.

Planning and Building
If you are considering building new business premises, changing the use of a business or expanding your existing business premises, you may be required to submit a development application to the Council's Planning & Building Division. It is a good idea to check with Council to see whether you need to seek development approval or not.

Council's planning officers can be contacted between 8.30am and 10.00am weekdays or by appointment on (02) 6591 7222. For general information, please visit Council's website www.greatlakes.local-e.nsw.gov.au/planning.
