Regional Partnerships
The Regional Partnerships program is an Australian Government initiative supporting the development of self-reliant communities. Private enterprise is eligible to apply for Regional partnerships funding for projects other than those aimed at developing plans or conducting market research.
The four objectives of the Regional Partnerships program are to:
- stimulate growth in regions by providing more opportunities for economic and social participation
- improve access to services in a cost effective and sustainable way, particularly for those communities in regional Australia with a population of less than 5,000
- support planning that assists communities to identify and explore opportunities and to develop strategies that result in direct action, and
- help communities make structural adjustments in regions affected by major economic, social or environmental change.

Australian Tourism Development Program
The Australian Tourism Development Program is a highly competitive merit-based grants program that aims to assist in the development of a continuous tourism experience throughout Australia by supporting initiatives that will:
- promote tourism development in regional and rural Australia
- contribute to long-term economic growth
- increase visitation and yield throughout Australia
- enhance visitor dispersal and tourism expenditure throughout Australia, and
- increase Australia’s competitiveness as a tourism destination.
Projects should focus on providing or enhancing tourism products and/or
Organisations eligible to apply are:
- private sector businesses
- businesses specialising in Indigenous tourism
- non-profit organisations
- regional tourism or regional economic development organisations
- peak or national tourism industry associations, or
- local government agencies (only if the local government agency can demonstrate that the project is additional to activity that local government would normally be expected to undertake).

Business Ready Program for Indigenous Tourism
Indigenous tourism can provide much needed opportunities for employment, social stability and the preservation of culture within Indigenous communities.
The Business Ready Program for Indigenous Tourism will assist Indigenous tourism operators to develop, establish and run successful tourism businesses and will encourage Indigenous participation in tourism activities as a way forward for achieving economic independence for
The program funds selected business mentors to identify Indigenous tourism businesses in their region and work with them to:
- provide tailored intensive support to develop their management, business and strategic planning skills,
- assist individuals, start-ups and existing Indigenous tourism businesses to increase their potential for commercialising tourism product or services, and
- ensure the businesses are capable of operating successfully within the Australian tourism industry.
